Generator Preventive Maintenance (PM) Service

PM Service Includes
  1. Replace engine lubricating oil and remove used oil from premises.***
  2. Replace oil, fuel and coolant filters, add corrosion inhibitor as needed.***
  3. Replace lube oil in hydraulic governors (if applicable).
  4. Natural Gas/LPG fueled engines – check all spark plugs, ignition condenser, cap rotor, wires, and points. Replace when necessary, with customer’s approval. (Additional cost).
  5. Check engine oil and coolant for proper levels and condition.
  6. Check air filter and crankcase breathers. Replace with customer’s approval. (Additional cost). At minimum, install new air filter and/or crankcase breathers every two (2) years from prior install date.
  7. Check and adjust belts as required.
  8. Check genset for loose, bare broken wiring or connections.
  9. Check governor operation, stability, linkage and oil.
  10. Check fuel tanks, pumps and lines for leaks or damage.
  11. Check engine, heaters, radiator, hoses and heat exchanger (if applicable) for coolant leaks and condition.
  12. Check inlet screen if water is supplied from other than radiator.
  13. Check condition of batteries (load test), electrolyte level and charging rate. Replace with customer’s approval. (Additional cost). At minimum, install new battery every two (2) years from prior install date.
  14. Start and run engine, check temperatures and pressures.
  15. Test engine safety shutdown systems.
  16. Test transfer switch operation and time delays, where applicable.*
  17. Check unit for proper frequency/speed, voltage and amperage.
  18. Verify and/or reset automatic weekly startup cycle (day of week and time setting) per customer requirements.
  19. Check lug connections to insure proper tightness and adequate connection of power cables at each power connection point between utility, generator, and ATS.
  20. Submit a detailed field service report confirming all checkpoints and scope of supply items have been performed to customer and recommendations for any further work required. Schedule repairs with customer’s approval and escalate urgency as needed to insure generator/ATS are ready to perform. (Additional cost).
  21. Preferred call-out service response. Target four (4) hrs on-site response from time of initial notification.
MAJOR (INSPECTION): LINE ITEMS 1 THRU 21.
MINOR (INSPECTION): LINE ITEMS 6 THRU 21.

* Full facility transfer test (loss of utility) shall be performed on an optional case-by-case basis as scheduled and coordinated by customer.
*** Oil, fuel and coolant samples and analysis shall be performed on an optional case-by-case basis as scheduled and coordinated by customer.

Report:
  • Provide a complete service report with all checklist items and all measurements and data recordings as listed above.
  • Provide a summary report of system performance and recommended repairs (quotation for repairs provided separately). Review with customer to address any questions and schedule repairs.
