UPS Preventive Maintenance (PM) Service

PM Service Includes: “Major PM’s Only”
  • Perform a complete visual inspection of the equipment including subassemblies, wiring harnesses, contacts, cables, and major components. Clean as needed.
  • Verify adequate room ventilation and temperature.
  • Verify and record all electronics to system specifications.
  • Inspect the inverter and rectifier / converter, battery charger, and power input circuitry and all subassemblies.
  • Check all connections for proper torque and/or discoloration.
  • Check fuses on the DC capacitors (if applicable).
  • Check air filters for cleanliness, replace as needed.
  • Check fans for proper operation.
  • Check module(s) completely for the following (if applicable)
    • Rectifier inverter static switch for abnormalities.
    • Power capacitors for swelling or leakage.
    • DC capacitors vent caps.
  • Measure and record phase-to-phase input voltages and currents.
  • Measure temperature on all breakers, connections and associated controls. Record all high temperature areas.
  • Measure and record all voltage and current meter readings on the module control cabinet or the system control cabinet input and output phase A, B, & C.
  • Measure and record harmonic trap filter currents
  • Perform Infrared on UPS load panels. Record any abnormalities.
  • With customer approval, perform operational test of the system including unit transfer and battery discharge.
Battery Inspection Service Performed: “Major and Minor PM’s”
  • Perform a complete visual inspection of the equipment including subassemblies, wiring harnesses, contacts, cables, and major components of UPS. Verify Proper Working Order of systems. Clean as needed.
  • Check integrity of battery cabinet (if applicable).
  • Visual inspection of the battery cabinet and/or room to include.
    • Check for NO-OX grease or acceptable compound on all connections (if applicable).
    • Check battery jars for proper electrolyte level (if flooded cells).
    • Check for corrosion on all terminals and cables, remove and neutralize as needed.
    • Check the overall cleanliness of the battery room and jars.
  • Measure and record AC bus ripple voltage and current.
  • Measure and record total battery float voltage and current.
  • Inspect site environmentals per IEEE / ANSI 450-1987 standards.
  • Verify that all required safety devices are present and operational.
  • Load test batteries.
  • Check batteries for internal impedance.
  • Re-torque battery terminals as required.
Report:
  • Provide a complete service report with all checklist items and all measurements and data recordings as listed above.
  • Provide a summary report of system performance and recommended repairs (quotation for repairs provided separately). Review with customer to address any questions and schedule repairs.
